Alicent is a Spanish Mastine cross, who was found near the shelter tied to a tree. There were puppies with her as well. But they have now all been adopted
She is a very quiet lady, who is still pretty shy, but she will come to you for a gentle stroke, She will let you take her out for a walk, but she prefers it when one of her pen mates come with her as well. Otherwise your walk will be cut short with her wanting to come back home pretty quickly.

Angelo is a friendly boy. He loves going for a walk with th volunteers, and is very good on his leash. He is very attentive and loves to see what is going on.
He is happy to have a cuddle and get attention from the volunteers.
He would be a great addition to any family.

Antonia is the most gentle soul you will find.She came to the shelter looking like a skeleton, with burn marks over her body. But with good medical care and lots of love ,she soon healed. And despite what has happened to her, she loves everyone. She loves to find a nice comfortable place in our garden here, and take as many naps as she can, and likes to watch all of the other dogs run up and down while she slumbers. Then when she knows its walkies, she waits patiently for her turn , then walks with all of the volunteers so nicely. She really will fit into any household,. She is gentle, sweet and very polite. Great with all of her penmates, and although still a little bit timid, she will let any of us give her cuddles and affection Beautiful girl

Batty and Pablo were found wondering around Estepona central, living off scraps.
They were both very timid and wary of people which is understandable, but now if you enter their pen, they will come running along to see what is going on. They really love going out for a walk, and have made friends with all of the other dogs they share a pen with They also have very good natures, they just need the right family to come along and make them part of a family now

A young German shepherd cross, Boots was adopted from ADANA, as a puppy, only a year ago. The original adopters moved and passed on Boots to others, who did the same …and so on, until we found him, running about in the road, as we drove to the shelter, one January morning.



It was instantly obvious that, during his year away, he had become exceptionally affectionate. His go-to move is the ‘rub-my-tummy’ which he can execute at considerable speed, bounding across the carpark and landing on his back, paws in the air, at the feet of any approaching volunteer. Attempt to stop petting him and you will trigger his second special move, which is to immediately jump up, reminding you that, before you leave, you might wish to consider the very important ears that still require scratching. Continue your attempts to leave and you will find that you now have the beginnings of a conga line.



He walks very well but does not seem to have been socialised with other dogs, and becomes a little insecure, around them. However, we have already noticed that this reduces as his walks progress, and the excited energy diminishes.

Brenny is a young Podence /Belgium Shepherd cross who was found in El Padron.

He is a little wary and very skinny which makes us think he has been alone for a while. However he walks very well on a lead so could have had some training in the past.
With a little patience as he gets used to you he will be a loving and loyal companion.

Bulé is ADANA's most reformed character. Release your inner calm, with Bulé's path to Zen.

Once upon a time, Bulé was the scourge of all that went on four legs. As gentle and affectionate as she was with people, she was a charging, snarling composite of tooth, claw and muscle to other dogs. Affectionately dubbed 'The Bulldozer' by ADANA volunteers, nothing would stand in Bulé's path!

But she chose to bend, like the willow, and there followed a period when she would calmly appraise even the most agitated dog, visibly daring it to approach her. Invariably, it would not, evolution having furnished it with impressive survival instincts.

These days, Bulé has ascended to a new plane; comfortable enough to ignore even the largest and most threatening beast, she has chosen the ways of peace and co-existence.

Scientists say, she is more effective than homeopathy, crystals or acupuncture.

Canela is a bundle of energy.
She is very friendly and loves going out for a walk with the volunteers.
She is a little enthustiastic on the leash but she is only young and wants to explore and play.

Cloud is a Mastin found at Yedra.
She was in a sorry state when she arrived, with grass and leaves struck to her ears. She was very timid and wary.
She has become a lot more confident over the months, but still wont steal the limelight. She is such a gentle girl, she walks up to us slowly and will put her head against us every morning, a gentle, loving nuzzle, from a gentle girl

Ding arrived, very shy, with a horribly misshapen hip and hind-leg. While she always got along with other dogs, she was rather shy of people. Those entering her pen would be excitedly mobbed by her pen-mates, while she would often melt quietly away although, occasionally, one might see her take a short, wobbly walk with a favoured volunteer.

Following a successful operation, Ding returned a different dog. Now much more confident, mobile and increasingly strong, she has come to thoroughly enjoy her walks and, while she remains a touch timid, initially, it really only takes a few treats for Ding to recognise a friend and become very affectionate.

What has not changed is her temperament with other dogs. At the time of writing, Ding shares her pen with five other, large and exuberant dogs; the long-suffering big sis, among the mischievous boys.

Dixon is a big softie.
He was found wandering near the motorway and brought to ADANA by the polce.
He loves attention, and is very energetic, a trait of his breed. He enjoys his walks, and cuddles.

Hannah is a lovely Mastin cross who came in from Gaucin.

She is an amazing girl who has grown in confidence since her arrival. She loves to go out for walks and is very good on the lead. She loves adults and children alike, and gets on well with all her pen mates.
She is a fun loving lady who is very affectionate.
She can't wait to join your family.

Hector is a lovely boy. He was found running along the motorway, but fortunately was rescued and brought to Adana.
He is very friendly and loves attention. But his charecter is as soft as his lovely golden fur. He is very fun loving with all of his furry friends, but takes his time getting to know us humans. But we think he will make a wonderful adittion to any home

Janell is a gorgeous Spanish Mastin found alone in El Padron.
She is very gentle as is most of her breed.

A large, friendly, female mastin, Janell endears herself, even as you approach her, by smiling broadly and engaging in a little dance, so excited is she to have a new friend, who she can reasonably hope will scratch her ears or bottom. Janell has a beautiful nature and wants to be friends with every person and every dog. Unused to a lead, she does have a tendency to pull (and she is a strong girl!) which would take some training, to address, but she is friendly, intelligent and attentive. The pulling is usually a result of her wanting to meet another dog. Janell wants to be friends with everyone.

Jason was handed to us by Casares police.
He had severe wounds around his neck, it looks like he has been tied up with a chain or wire for a long time. He also has a gaping wound where it looks like his microchip has been cut out. What a traumatic beggining for this poor soul
He was , understandably, a little wary and unsure when he first arrived, but now we can all see how amazing he actually is. Considering the damage another human being had inlicted on him, he loves being with all of the volunteers. He will let you kiss and cuddle him for ever. He loves to snuggle and nuzzle, and tickle and scratch him. we dont know why somebody hasnt adopted him yet. We cant tell you enough as to how wonderful this boy is. Come and meet him and see for yourself

Joplin is a pretty Pointer/Mastin X found abandoned in Estepona with her brothers and sisters. she's had a tough start at life but is now developing into a wonderful & playful girl. She has beautiful markings and big floppy ears.

She is a very shy dog, so will need someone who will give her space and be patient and encourage her to grow in confidence. In return you will have a best friend for life. Just a year or so old.

This young girl is very playful and loves running and going for long walks. She did not have a very nice previous owner, but has quickly learnt to love and trust the volunteers. She has recently found something she really likes, having her glossy black fur brushed. Why don’t you come along and meet her.

Lucky, he's a big cuddly bear. Full of life and energy, he just loves to love and will often jump up for a cuddle.

Lucky is a playful, energetic and affectionate mastin - german shepherd cross with a beautiful thick brindle coat and a happy smiley face. While friendly to people and (generally) other dogs, he does lack manners and would require a little effort to properly socialise him. He has mellowed, in recent months and now walks very calmly, on the lead, once his initial excitement has dissipated. He loves to be cuddled and his thick, soft fur makes this an absolute joy. Lucky would probably need a garden, to run off some of his energy but anybody able to offer him a little exercise and play would be rewarded with a loyal, characterful and affectionate companion.

Macey is a big quiet girl, who always watches what is going on from the back of the group. She really enjoys the walkers coming and taking her for long walks down to the stream. It took her a little while to come out of her shell, but now she will be the first in line to want attention or to go out for a walk. She is a little bit on the tubby side right now, but that would soon change in a home environment.Come and meet her, then you will see how she loves being brushed and stroked, while she looks at you with her big brown eyes

Noodle is a gentle giant, though a little timid at first. She was found by the Guardia Civil starving and alone, they brought her to us.
She loves to sit in the sun.

Ochre is a female Pointer/Mastin X around a year old. She came to us as a group of 4 and is a very shy dog.

She is looking for someone with a lot of patience who will spend time with her at the shelter so she can gain trust. She is a lovely dog, just very shy.

With a little time and patience they will grow in confidence and slowly will gain our trust. Then they will be the loyal, friendly creatures you expect from their breed.

Panther is one of ADANA's success stories.

A sleek and magnificent Pointer cross, he arrived as a puppy, in poor health, 3 years ago. He was initially incredibly timid and anxious and it took volunteers over a year to persuade him to walk.

Fast forward, 2 years, and he is unrecognisable; a sweet and gentle character, well-socialised with other dogs and becoming increasingly confident when meeting new people.

He behaves very well on a lead, rarely pulling, once his initial excitement has passed, and it is not uncommon (on quiet days, and isolated paths) for some of his favourite volunteers to allow him off the lead.

One volunteer reported, "Panther’s initial reaction was to look, pointedly, back at the lead, and then at me, and then back at the lead, again, as if more concerned by my misbehaviour than the potential freedom with which he’d been presented. At no time did he stray, at all, although he clearly conveyed his concern that there was now nothing stopping me from running off and causing mischief, for which he might be held responsible."

Spending just a little time with Panther, in order to gain his trust, reveals a gentle, well-socialised, affectionate and magnificent dog.

Rafa is a lovely tiger stripped coloured Galgo , who was brought in to us with a huge slice through his hip. He was stitched up and has recovered very well. We have discovered that he loves tins of meat, going for walks, and loves any attention he can get from us in order . He snuggles his soft velvet nose into you and it is hard to resist giving him more cuddles But who can resist a Galgo . He is an older dog, but puts up with the rest of his friends running up and down all day. He was a bit reserved with most dogs when he first arrived, but now he is part of the pack He is still a bit quiet , but that is just his calm nature .

Ramon is little more than a large puppy, which is obvious to all who meet him. He is immediately given away by his enthusiasm, excitement and unending desire to play. In a pen containing five other large dogs, he is very much the class clown; an irrepressible bundle of happy, affectionate energy.

He walks very well, once the initial excitement has dissipated. He is an intelligent and attentive guy, for his tender age, quick to accept correction and congratulations and is already sufficiently flexible and well-socialised to join any pack of dogs and people.

Anyone looking for a large dog should come and meet Ramon. Be amused and fall in love.

Samantha is a 'meander-thol'; never four consecutive steps, in the same direction. A female mastin, more closely resembling an enormous labrador, she is generally good with other dogs, and friendly and affectionate towards people. Her soft fur makes her a joy to pet and she is more than happy to receive the attention. While she is a very strong girl and can pull, early on, during a walk, she improves massively, once the initial excitement has passed. A little work to improve her lead-manners might be necessary but Samantha would be worth it; beautiful, inside and out.

Sasha arrived, following the death of his elderly owner, bewildered and terrified, about the change in his circumstances and nervous of both people and other dogs, alike.

It took only a few weeks for Sasha to find his feet. His gentle and friendly nature allowed him to be placed with several other, large pen-mates, and the dog that was too nervous to take a treat, on arrival, became the dog that would joyfully hurl himself at you, and thoroughly clean your ears, in around eight weeks.

He remains in a pen with a large number of even larger dogs and is very much the gentleman of the pen. Walk into that pen with a lead and Sasha will sit, stiffly at the door, straining to be a good boy amid the chaos, and visibly appalled and utterly apologetic regarding the dreadfully coarse behaviour of his friends.

He's so very sorry. They just didn't have the benefits of his upbringing.

Sira is a German Shepherd. She hasn’t had a great start to her life, but since coming to ADANA, her confidence is growing and she is coming out of her shell every day. She now enjoys having her neck massaged and scratched ,and will nuzzle into you for more. She is such a lovely girl with a shiny black coat.

Wolfy is a beautiful Mastin X Belgian Shepherd, who was found starving in Casares.

Wolfy is an amiable scruff, with a playful personality and plenty of energy. He is friendly and affectionate towards people and loves to be cuddles but would require a little effort to socialise with other dogs. While he can pull if over-excited, he generally walks very well on the lead, he will sit for treats and loves to play in the water.
Wolfy would be an ideal companion for someone with a bit of a garden and a little time to exercise him each day.
.
