You may have read in our May newsletter about the overcrowding we are experiencing in our kennels. Since then the Board has met and discussed our general situation regarding the well-being of the dogs in our care in the light of our current parlous financial situation, which shows no signs of medium to long term improvement and must be considered in conjunction with the excessive and ever-increasing number of dogs in our care - the current number, at 186, is more than twice the desired capacity.

We feel that the situation is sufficiently serious to merit a full and frank discussion with all members. We shall therefore be holding a special Members Meeting on Tuesday, June 14th 2011 at the Padre Manuel Centre, Estepona, to begin at 7.00 p.m.

Admittance will be conditional on proof of current membership.

UPDATE:
This meeting, which was called to alert members to the state of our finances and the overcrowding in the kennels, resulted in a show of trust and confidence in the Board's determination to stick to the Statutes regarding euthanasia.

It now seems understood that it is not the Board but our vets who decide which of our animals should be euthanized. Hopefully this will stop the spread of false and damaging rumours.
