A Fond Farewell – and a Warm Welcome

Maria Stevens at San Anton On December 4th Maria Stevens is leaving her job at the ADANA Kennels to move with her family to Sweden. Maria has been involved with ADANA for 5 years, joining us originally as a volunteer. She then worked in an administrative/events role and for the last four years has been our Kennels Manager. In her time she has run bars, organized buffets, was in charge of the Dog Show and has been a prominent face on Estival TV, at San Anton and The Camino.

New ADANA Board Member

We are extremely happy to announce that our local vet, Barbara Hoede, has agreed to be a co-opted member of the ADANA Management Board and we are grateful to her for volunteering her time and effort.

Barbara has been a supporter of ADANA for some time and has been of great assistance to us in the past. We are sure that Barbara's contribution will strengthen our current team and provide us with valuable expertise.

Grupo OV donates building materials

Many thanks to Miguel Angel Ortega Vera and his company Movimientos Grupo O.V., S.L. who recently donated building materials for repairs and alterations at the kennels.

Together with the labour of ADANA employees and volunteers, we will be able to improve the building which is home to the dogs awaiting adoption. Miguel has an ADANA dog amongst his many rescued animals.

Clarification: ADANA president

Last month's newsletter and, indeed, the E.G.M. may have given the impression that Mary Page would definitely take over the role of President from Janet at the next A.G.M. A few weeks in the Vice President's shoes have confirmed that it will take far longer to learn the ropes and do the job justice. She has not, is not, saying NO, NEVER – but just NOT YET!

ADANA Computer

On 3 August 2010 someone came to the kennels and stole the computer while the staff was busy. Within 10 hours we had been offered 9 machines of various ages of which we accepted two from the owners of ex-ADANA dogs. We are now using a fully-refurbished PC donated by Gill and Tony Sidebottom of, a company offering a full service of property management, rentals and sales. We also a backup computer from Grupo O.V. Movimientos of Guadalmansa. What a wonderful response to our appeal!

Extraordinary Meeting - 6 Oct

The Extraordinary Meeting on Wednesday 6 October 2010 was attended by 29 members. At the meeting Janet Greenstreet withdrew her resignation and has agreed to stay on in post until the AGM which will be next March or April.

Mary Page was unanimously voted the new Vice President and it is envisaged that she will take over as President at the AGM.

Letter from the President

To all ADANA members.

David McNally and I have recently resigned from our current posts as President and Vice-President of ADANA.

We would like to re-assure all members and volunteers that the reasons for our resignations are purely for personal and health reasons and in no way reflect any lack of confidence in, or commitment to, the work of ADANA. We both feel that, after 2 years in post, it is time for someone with new ideas (and energy) to take over the reins and continue to move ADANA forward.

David and I will continue to support and work with ADANA for the foreseeable future, though in a much-reduced capacity. I am sure that David will join with me in thanking all members for all their support in the past and we both look forward to working with you all in the future.

With very best wishes,

Janet Greenstreet

Web Site Overhaul

Hello everyone,

Due to a pervasive infection on the web site which affected almost every directory in the system, the web site has had to be redone completely. Thankfully most of the data could be saved, but the system itself had to be completely installed and set up anew.

While doing this new set up, I have taken the opportunity to consolidate some pages, add some pages and features, organize the menus and fix any broken links (hopefully). If you find I have missed any broken links, please let me know.
