Dog Photography Exhibition by Nele

One of our younger volunteers recently organised a photography exhibition at New Longmans. Here Nele introduces herself and tells us why she wants to help Adana through her photography:

"Hello my name is Nele, I am 16 years old and I attend the Sotogrande International School. I am originally from Germany, but grew up in Dubai and have now been in Spain for nearly 2 years. I have an older brother, a dog, a cat and a horse!

"Late 2015 my classmates and I were introduced to the idea of the Personal Project. Basically, it is a project for you to do what you want to do, showing skills and different approaches to learning, you have developed and learned in school over the years and then to applying them to the topic you chose.

"I decided to focus my project on my photography and how I could use that to potentially raise awareness and money for ADANA. Over the past year, I have been volunteering at ADANA, mainly spending my Sunday mornings up at the shelter taking pictures. These pictures are used to advertise the dogs on the website and Facebook pages.

"After a couple of months of research and taking over 7000 pictures of the adoptable dogs, I recently held my exhibition at the New Longman’s in Estepona. I exhibited 25 of my pictures and was able to raise over 150€ through the sale of my prints and postcards.

"I chose to focus on dog rescue and adoptions, as I believe that animals can teach us things we could never learn from other people and that, especially dogs, can really become a big part of our lives. I have always wanted to use my photography to make a positive change in this world and I saw this as a very good chance."
