Spanish Civil War talk by Isabel Howat - Feb 18 2014

Isabel Howat in the Press Room The Press Room in the Padre Manuel Centre Estepona was full to capacity on the evening of 18 February to hear a talk by local resident Isobel Howat on the Spanish Civil War. Mrs. Howat, who was born in Scotland and who spends part of the year in her El Paraiso apartment and the other in her native Glasgow, held the audience spell-bound with her journey through Spanish history focusing on the dreadful years of civil war 1936 to 1939.

Although the main topic of the ADANA organised talk was a sombre one, Mrs. Howat lightened her talk with humorous anecdotes of prominent figures in Spanish history, including the Habsburg and Borbon dynasties and the lives of the nymphomaniac Queen Isabella.

ADANA Vice-President Mary Page thanked Mrs Howat and said she hoped she would return to entertain once more. Over 200 euros was raised at the event.
