ADOPTION ADVICE:
Dogs are pack animals. That means that the dog looks at you and your family as part of the pack. The dog expects to find a place (ranking) within the pack.Puppies are the lowest in the rank, and as they are brought up will fit in and accept you as the leader of the pack.
With adult dogs they will need to adjust to the new "pack". The dog should always be fed after you and the family have eaten, that way it will understand that the family is higher in the ranking.
Dogs thrive on praise. Praise and gifts are far more effective at training a dog than fear. Each time a dog does the right thing, it should be praised or given a small gift.
ADOPTION PROCESS:
All dogs offered for adoption are:* Neutered, inoculated (for certain diseases) and wormed.
* Before being handed over the dogs must be microchipped.
The new owner must undertake to cherish and care for the new pet, and ADANA will require access to the animal to be able to check its condition, usually within 6 months of adoption.
If the animal is found to be improperly treated, then ADANA would insist on its return to ADANA
A donation of 120€ is required for all dogs, including puppies, to cover the cost of microchip, vaccination and neutering. In the case of small puppies they should be brought back to ADANA at the appropriate age for neutering, when the operation will be carried out free of charge.
